Share out your project again and see if the exported movie will play in QT. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project. Try deleting preferences and then exporting again. SOS please. What version of QuickTimePlayer are you using? On my Mac, running Mojave and iMovie 10.1.12, QuickTimePlayer version 10.5 plays all Mp4 movies exported by iMovie. My imovie seems all wonkie too, I cannot find download to theater or even find theater now. I also purchased a san disc to download my imovies too but Imovie does not give me a choice for that for downloading. I do have an older mac air, 2013 but I did check and it was approved for the catalina download and I did delete a bunch of stuff to make room for it too. I tried using different version of lesser quality and that still only got a few seconds downloaded of a 16 minute video. I keep getting the error 50 occurred when exporting to movie file on computer. I am afraid I may have deleted an application or something that is needed for exporting videos. It would not export though, only a few seconds would export. Well, I made a 16 minute video and it imported fine to imovie and I was able to edit it. Then, I downloaded catalina, and finally I downloaded imovie. I have had trouble with exporting so yesterday I tried a few things. Imovie will not export and is on the struggle bus it just quits Hello, I am doing video lessons for elementary students on zoom and importing them to imovie to edit and then post on google classroom. Thanks to IzzardUK for his iMovies Libraries migration suggestion as a potential solution. All other parts of the app works fine? All other parts of the Mac Pro are fine. I have so many projects at stake in getting this back to normal. So I appreciate any assistance to getting iMovie to behave properly. (Argh!) I wish there was a workaround to that. I’ve discovered that I cannot revert to earlier versions of the app because the iMovie libraries are now updated to only be recognized by this version. I’ve even tried opening the app while holding down Option-Command and deleting the Preferences. I can’t find any information on what that means?Īt first I had a list of “incompatible media” (consisting of Quicktime MOVs) in various projects which I skipped, but even after converting/processing those files, the behaviour continues. “server startup notification failed pid 1741” And then re-entering the app and going straight to the Export tab does result in a successful export. The solid circle after many minutes does not “fill up” as generating the output. Update: After a complete iMovie app deletion, and removal of the system folder files and Empty Trash, and reinstallation of iMovie 10.1.12, the same problems continues - difficult to generate an export video. Previously, on a Mac 2010 machine under version 10.1.8 I didn’t have any bugs or problems…. I don’t know any other workaround? And I know I’m using this on a machine that has the maximum 32 GB ram just installed? (2x16GB) It only seems to export properly by quitting the app, and re-entering it solely for exporting. I can’t seem to get it to do this after working on a project. To solve this, I have to quit/force quit the app and with no other apps loaded, re-enter the app and immediately go to the Export file command and ask for it to export and then the app appears to operate properly with a quick solid circle and filling up of the circle, indicating that it’s generating/rendering the video for export. When I ask the program to export File video, the exporting circle goes solid and doesn’t “fill up” right away (as it should) and while it says it’s exporting, for minutes nothing happens. In iMovie 10.1.12 I have an export video problem. Hi all, just upgraded to a Mac Pro 2012 machine with the maximum 32GB memory available, and now test driving High Sierra.
